Liverpool’s teenage midfielder Harvey Elliott said he had been overwhelmed by the “love and support” he has received since dislocating his ankle in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Leeds.
Elliott sustained the gruesome injury after a challenge by Leeds defender Pascal Struijk, who was sent off after a VAR review.
The 18-year-old received lengthy treatment on the Elland Road pitch before being stretchered off, leaving players from both teams looking distraught.
Elliott was later discharged from a hospital in Leeds and while the full severity of the damage has yet to be confirmed, he will undergo surgery.
“I’m of course absolutely devastated with what happened yesterday at Leeds, but have been totally overwhelmed by the love and support shown to me by the entire football world following the injury,” Elliott wrote on Instagram on Monday.
“Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out or sent messages to me and my family, it means so much to us.
“Also a massive thanks to everyone inside Elland Road for the reception you gave me immediately after it happened.”
Elliott had emerged as a surprise first-choice for Liverpool in the early weeks of this season after spending last term on loan at second-tier Blackburn.
He made his full Premier League debut in last month’s home win against Burnley and was impressing against Leeds before Struijk’s 59th minute tackle put the rest of his season in jeopardy.

Oscar Fernandes, a veteran Congress leader and former union minister, passed away in Mangalore on Monday at the age of 80. Fernandes, a sitting member of the Rajya Sabha, was critically injured after he fell accidentally while doing his regular exercise on July 20 this year and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a super specialty hospital at Mangalore. As he was found to have an internal injury, a surgery was also carried out by doctors.
Born on March 27, 1941 to Roque Fernandes and Leonissa Fernandes, he started his political career as Councillor of Udupi Municipal Council in 1972. He is survived by his wife Blossom Fernandes, son and a daughter.
HIS POLITICAL CAREER
A close confidante of the Gandhi family, Fernandes had always remained a disciplined party man throughout his political life. In his five decade long political career, Fernandes represented Udupi constituency in the Lok Sabha five times and was elected to the Rajya Sabha four times.
He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1980, followed by wins from the same constituency in 1984, 1989, 1991 and 1996. He has been a Rajya Sabha member for four terms since 1998. He had served as Union Minister for Labour and Employment from 2006 to 2009 and had held different portfolios, including NRI affairs, Statistics and Programme Implementation in the UPA-II government led by Manmohan Singh.
Fernandes was also the chairman of the central election authority of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and AICC general secretary in 1996. He was president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) in the late eighties. He also served as Parliament Secretary to Rajiv Gandhi.
He was also a close confidant of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and used to be known as a trouble-shooter for the party as he handled various situations.
STORY OF COW URINE ‘CURING’ CANCER
On March 18 last year, Fernandes extolled the virtues of ‘gaumutra‘ (cow urine) and shared an anecdote about a man claiming to have cured his cancer by drinking cow urine to drive his point home. Participating in a debate in Rajya Sabha on two bills for setting up national commissions for homoeopathy and Indian systems of medicine, Fernandes had said, “My extreme friend Jairam Ramesh pulls my leg, when I talk of ‘gaumutra’.”
Sharing an anecdote, Fernandes had said that once during a visit to an ashram near Meerut in Uttar Pradesh he had met a person who claimed to have cured his cancer by drinking ‘gaumutra’.
Many BJP leaders have earlier spoken about the healing power of ‘gaumutra’. However, the Congress has always reacted sharply to such remarks.
A FIRM BELIEVER IN YOGA
Fernandes had also shared that he had severe pain in knee joint and doctors had suggested for replacement surgery. However, he refused and started doing ‘Vajrasana’. “I started Vajrasana, practising yoga, and today I am able to do wrestling without any difficulty,” he told the members of the Upper House.
“When (former) Prime Minister (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee ji had a knee surgery, I thought if I had known him earlier, I would have definitely gone to him and ask him to follow ‘Vajrasan’ and it could have been cured,” he had said.
He had also claimed to have met a person in US aged around 104 years and moving swiftly as a young man.
“Yoga is our wealth. If you practise yoga, may be our budget cost of health can be reduced by 50 per cent. It’s way of life,” he had said. “Our own Indian systems of medicine will provide a lot of reliefs even before going to a doctor,” he added.

THANE: A day after a slab collapse in a building in Rabodi in Thane killed two people, the BJP and Congress on Monday demanded that civic officials and builders connected to the structure be booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Thane BJP chief and MLC Niranjan Davkhare said civic officials and builders were to blame as it was their responsibility to ensure people are moved from dilapidated and dangerous buildings to transit camps. The city’s Congress chief, Vikrant Chavan, expressed similar views, both agreeing that police should register a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the incident. The Thane Municipal Corporation, in a release issued on Sunday evening, had said the building had been declared dangerous and dilapidated after an audit in 2013 but occupants had refused to move despite several notices. The civic release had claimed local police, the water supply department and power distribution firms were asked to disconnect supply from their respective ends but nothing had come out of this move either. A police official said an accidental death case had been registered and a probe into the chain of events that caused the slab collapse and deaths as well as checking of documents of the structure was underway.

Lucknow: The temple town of Ayodhya has become the axis for all political parties ahead of the 2022 State Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh with politicians lining up to visit Ram Lalla in the city. Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also followed suit on Monday. Sisodia said that he prayed to Lord Ram for blessings to form the AAP government in the state.
Delhi Deputy CM also visited Hanumangarhi and recited Hanuman Chalisa there. He also prayed to Lord Ram for blessings so that “UP can also develop in the same manner as Delhi in areas like education, health, electricity, water and employment”.
With the grace of Lord Shri Ram and the blessings of saints, Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is becoming a new definition of politics of honesty and development,” Sisodia in a tweet.

He first reached Janki Ghat Bada Sthan and took blessings from the saints and also met other saints, including Mahant Suresh Das, Mahant Avadhesh Das, Mahant Dilip Das, Mahant Pawan Das of Janki Ghat. Many AAP leaders and workers, including AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh, accompanied him.

Marvel has overhauled its all-you-can-read comics subscription service with a new logo, an updated mobile app, a more user-friendly design, improved search, and more. Marvel recently did a re-launch of its subscription service and announced new additions to the service that include a new line of comics that has been specifically designed vertically to fit the smartphone form factor. Let us take a look at what Marvel’s all-you-can-read comics subscription service offers and what’s new for Marvel fans.
First and foremost, Marvel Unlimited currently features more than 29,000 comics and costs $9.99 (roughly Rs 740) per month of $99 (roughly Rs 7,300) per year. The new Infinity Comics line that has been designed to fit the vertical smartphone form factor has scrolling panels that fill the entire width of a phone or a tablet screen. Marvel will launch 27 comics that were made available on the day of the relaunch, with plans to launch over 100 comics by the end of the year. These comics will be exclusive to Marvel Unlimited subscribers, but they will be fully in-universe. The Infinity Comics include some big names like X-Men Unlimited, Giant-Size Little Marvels, new Captain America, Black Widow, Amazing Fantasy, Deadpool, Shang-Chi, and Venom/ Carnage Comics. Marvel plans to release new issues on a weekly basis.
For now, Infinity Comics are only available on the Marvel Unlimited apps on iOS and Android, and the company plans to add a web reader for subscribers in the future as well.
Apart from Infinity Comics, the Marvel Unlimited app comes with a Netflix-like UI that features big tiles for major titles, with scrolling carousels of recommended content, storyline, characters, creators, and more. There are also reading guides for guiding newcomers to comics or for following a crossover event that Marvel fans may have missed.
Marvel also has a Marvel Insider loyalty program with the new Marvel Unlimited subscription. Here, members can earn points for starting (and finishing) comics. With the new app, Marvel Unlimited subscribers will be able to locally download an unlimited number of comics, instead of the previous limit of just 12 issues. Another feature is the ability to follow specific comics, creators, or characters.
There is, however, a big caveat that Marvel Unlimited operates on a three-month delay from when the comics are first published in print and digital to when they’re available for subscribers in the app.

फर्नांडिस को जुलाई में घर पर योग करते समय गिरने के बाद अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। उन्होंने अपने मस्तिष्क में एक थक्का निकालने के लिए एक सर्जरी भी करवाई थी।

आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री वाईएस जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने सोमवार को केंद्र से राज्य के कई श्रमिकों को वापस लाने में मदद करने का अनुरोध किया, जिनके साथ बहरीन में उनके नियोक्ताओं द्वारा ‘बुरा व्यवहार’ किया जा रहा था। विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर को लिखे पत्र में मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि कई भारतीय कामगारों के साथ उनके नियोक्ता दुर्व्यवहार कर रहे हैं और उन्होंने अपने गृह नगरों में लौटने के लिए सहायता मांगी थी।
जगन ने कहा, “प्रभावित श्रमिकों में, बड़ी संख्या में कार्यकर्ता एपी राज्य से संबंधित हैं।” उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार बहरीन से प्रभावित श्रमिकों को वापस लाने के लिए केंद्र को हर संभव सहायता देगी। वह विदेश मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों को चाहते थे किसी भी सहायता के लिए नई दिल्ली में रेजिडेंट कमिश्नर या अमरावती में सीएमओ के साथ समन्वय करना।

चेन्नई: मुख्यमंत्री एमके स्टालिन के नेतृत्व वाली तमिलनाडु सरकार ने सोमवार (13 सितंबर) को राज्य विधानसभा में नीट मेडिकल प्रवेश परीक्षा को रद्द करने के लिए एक विधेयक पारित किया।
विधेयक में छात्रों द्वारा 12वीं कक्षा के अंकों के आधार पर एमबीबीएस और बीडीएस पाठ्यक्रमों में प्रवेश की अनुमति देने का प्रयास किया गया है।
जहां अन्नाद्रमुक ने विधेयक का समर्थन किया, वहीं उसकी सहयोगी भाजपा ने वाकआउट किया।
तमिलनाडु सरकार ने केंद्रीकृत मेडिकल प्रवेश परीक्षा – नीट 2021 से अपने छात्रों के लिए छूट की मांग वाला विधेयक पेश किया। अन्नाद्रमुक के वाकआउट के बीच मुख्यमंत्री एमके स्टालिन ने इस विधेयक को विधानसभा में पेश किया।
राष्ट्रीय प्रवेश-सह-पात्रता परीक्षा के परिणाम के डर से एक मेडिकल उम्मीदवार की आत्महत्या की मौत तमिलनाडु विधानसभा में गूंज उठी।
सदन की कार्यवाही शुरू होते ही विपक्ष के नेता के पलानीस्वामी ने रविवार को अपने पैतृक सलेम जिले में 19 वर्षीय धनुष की आत्महत्या से मौत का जिक्र किया और मामले को लेकर सरकार पर निशाना साधा.
उन्होंने कहा कि हालांकि द्रमुक ने नीट रद्द करने का वादा किया था लेकिन ऐसा नहीं किया गया और कई छात्रों ने अच्छी तैयारी नहीं की। स्पीकर एम अप्पावु ने उनकी कुछ टिप्पणियों को हटा दिया। उन्होंने नकद सहायता के अलावा परिवार के एक व्यक्ति के लिए नौकरी मांगी।
