Uddhav: Those who reject own family shouldn’t talk of others | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A day after the INDIA alliance meeting in the city, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dig at the opposition that the nation wants dynasty and graft to quit India, saying people who rejected their own family should not talk about other people’s families, without naming Modi.
Thackeray on Saturday also slammed the state government over the lathi-charge against Maratha reservation protesters in Jalna, saying none of the leaders in “the one full, two half” government went to meet them while they had time to speak against the INDIA alliance. “Now the farce of inquiry will be started,” he said. “They (chief minister Eknath Shinde and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis) will say we have not done anything, we will conduct a thorough investigation,” said Thackeray while speaking to Sena (UBT) workers at a party meeting on Saturday.
Thackeray said Shiv Sainiks, including Kishori Pednekar, Anil Parab and Sanjay Raut, were being harassed and told “if you don’t come to us (the BJP), you will go to jail”. He warned the BJP the day will come when they too will go to jail. He said the Sena founder, the late Balasaheb Thackeray, had not formed the party to carry the BJP’s palanquin forever. Uddhav said they will finish the BJP’s dictatorial regime at the Centre.
“The family system, family values are the culture of the Hindus. Take care of your family first, then talk about our family,” Thackeray said.
“Government atrocities took place in Jalna on Friday. Just condemning it will not work. The Supreme Court has slammed the government… Agitation is on in the state, mothers and sisters are on hunger strike, but no one has the time. While the INDIA press conference was on, a ‘deputy’ held a press conference,” Thackeray said, taking a dig at Fadnavis.
“Every chief minister and home minister is given an idea of what is going on in the state. Didn’t the ‘one full and two halves’ know that a protest was on?… Police saved Maharashtra by risking their lives during the corona crisis. Can those cops become monsters when the government changes? Someone has given orders… The government is at your door. They want to take the Shasan Aplya Dari (Government at Your Doorstep) programme there. I don’t know if they can take it now. A 70-75- year-old man was also beaten up inside the house. We will conduct a thorough investigation,” Thackeray said.
Thackeray also defended the MVA and the BMC’s work during the pandemic. “Apart from Maharashtra, which state set up a field hospital? We took the number of testing centres to 600,” he said.
