Danish Ali: All About the BSP MP Who is in Row with BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri – News18

Kunwar Danish Ali, Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), is in the limelight following his emotional letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ramesh Bidhuri of using abusive language against him on the floor of the house and demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Earlier, Ali had grabbed the headlines in August, for strongly opposing chanting of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ by BJP MLC Hari Singh Dillon in his address at Amroha railway station. Other MPs, MLAs and senior railway officials who were present on the occasion said things took an ugly turn when both the leaders got into a scuffle.

However, later Ali, while clarifying his point, stated that “it was a government event and not a party specific event”. “Those who have no role in giving independence to the country, try to convert government programmes into BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) events,” Ali had said.

Things didn’t stop here. Taking serious note of the incident, the Upper House in UP accepted a censure motion against Ali. Moving the motion, BJP member Umesh Dwivedi urged the House to condemn the BSP MP. Diwedi said one could chant ‘Bharat Mati Ki Jai’ anywhere. “The BSP MP’s taking offence to the slogan was deplorable and action must be taken against him,” he added.

THE AMROHA MP

Kunwar Danish Ali is a BSP MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha Lok Sabha Constituency since 2019. Born and brought up in Hapur, Ali completed his higher studies from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. Driven by his political aspirations, he joined Janata Dal (Secular), and later switched to the BSP on March 15, 2019. Soon after, BSP supremo Mayawati announced his candidature from Amroha for the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls.

Ali bagged 6,01,082 votes defeating his archrival and BJP candidate Kanwar Singh Tanwar who managed to bag 5,37,834 votes. BSP supremo Mayawati also named Danish Ali as their leader in the 17th Lok Sabha.

In November last year, Ali, while addressing a gathering in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, had said that there was a high possibility that the 2024 Lok Sabha polls will result in the formation of United Front Government at the Centre. Ali is also a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Home Affairs since November 2019.
