The Election Commission of India has announced the date for Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023. The state is currently governed by the Congress and is being led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The BJP is the key opposition party in the state. Chhattisgarh assembly has a total of 90 seats and the majority mark is 46 seats. There are 10 seats reserved for SCs and 29 seats reserved for STs. The Congress had won 71 seats in the last assembly election while the BJP had bagged just 15 seats. While CM Baghel’s popularity will be a key for the Congress in the election, the BJP is likely to bet big on the Modi Magic the wrestle back the state from the Congress party.
According to the election commission of India, Chhattisgarh has a total of 2,03,80,079 voters including 2,03,60,240 general voters and 19,839 service voters. There are a total of 2,63,829 young voters aged beween 18-19. There are 1,86,215 voters who are 80 plus and the state has 1,60,955 PwD voters. There shall be maximum 1500 electors in a polling station. In Chhattisgarh, the number of polling booths has been increased to 24,109 compared to 23,677 in 2018.
The elections in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases in November. The voting fot the first phase will be held on November 7 and the second phase will take place on November 17. The voting time is likely to be between 7 am to 5 pm.
The polls for the 90 assembly seats are likely to be held in November and the results will be out in December 3 along with other poll-bound states.

Five states are going to the polls in November this year – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram. The results of these state assembly elections will be crucial given the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will seek a third straight term. The results are likely to be the true semi-finals in the run-up to the parliamentary polls next year.
