39% govt schools in Gujarat don’t have a single Class I student this year
Around 39% of government-run schools in Ahmedabad, India, do not have any students in Class I this year due to a change in admission rules. The rule, in line with the National Education Policy, states that children must be six years old by June 1 to enter Class I. Instead, a temporary program called ‘Bal Vatika’ has been introduced. This issue is not limited to Ahmedabad, as 12,336 schools across the state of Gujarat are facing the same problem. Experts predict that the number of Class 10 and 12 students will be significantly reduced in the future due to this change in admission.
