Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has said that wicket-keeping batter Sanju Samson is due some runs and he won’t get a better pitch to score ahead of India’s fourth T20I of the five-match series at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Jaffer said that Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill won’t get a better pitch to score some runs. Samson has scored 19 runs in two innings in this series.
“He (Samson) is due some runs. This is a high-scoring ground where the ball will come onto the bat and he will like batting here. Whether it’s him or Shubman Gill or Jaiswal, if you’re in poor form, you won’t get a better pitch than this. So they need to make the most of it,” said Jaffer.
He went on to heap praise on West Indies skipper Rovamn Powell, saying captaincy has made a positive impact on him. Powell has scored 109 runs in three matches against India in the ongoing T20I series.
“It seems like the responsibility of captaincy has had a positive impact on him. After Nicholas Pooran if there’s any batter who West Indies are dependent on, then its Rovmann Powell,” Jaffer added.
Jaffer named West Indies wicket-keeping batter Nicholas Pooran as their trump card, insisting that he will be crucial to their success in the fourth T20I. Pooran has registered scores of 41, 67 and 20 in the ongoing T20I series against India and has looked the most destructive West Indies batter.
“Nicholas Pooran is their trump card. He is crucial to their chances of scoring big. Because other batters apart from Powell haven’t been able to step up and they need to do better,” said Jaffer.
After losing the opening two matches and winning the third T20I by seven wickets, India will be looking to level the five-game series in Florida.
