WhatsApp users can now initiate group calls with up to 31 participants – Times of India

WhatsApp has recently introduced many interesting features which claim to improve the user experience. The Meta-owned platform has now reportedly rolled out another feature which will enhance the group calling experience. According on an online report, WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature which will enable the users to initiate a group call with up to 31 participants.
As reported by WABteaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to initiate group calls with up to 31 participants along with some minor improvements to the calls tab. Available for Android beta testers the feature can be accessed in update version 2.23.19.16.
Earlier, WhatsApp allowed users to initiate group calls with up to 15 participants, which we considered a significant improvement from the previous limit of just 7 people. But now the company has increased this limit to 31.
The report also suggest that WhatsApp added some minor tweaks to the calls tab. Specifically, call links are no longer mentioned within this screen, which now only states that it’s possible to call one or more contacts. In addition, the floating action button was updated with a plus icon.
WhatsApp Channels rolled out in India
In June this year, WhatsApp introduced its Channels feature, inspired by Instagram, starting with targeted regions. Owned by Meta, the platform has now initiated a global expansion of this feature, including its introduction in India. As per the company, WhatsApp Channels provides an easy, reliable, and private way to receive important updates from individuals and organisations within the WhatsApp ecosystem.
“Today we’re excited to launch WhatsApp Channels to over 150 countries and deliver a private way to receive updates that matter to you. We’re welcoming thousands of organizations, sports teams, artists, and thought leaders that people can follow, right within WhatsApp,” said the company in a blog post.
