Thane man doubted wife’s fidelity, fired at her before dropping dead | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: A day after a Kalwa resident and his wife were found in a pool of blood at their home late Friday, the police investigation revealed that the man, Dilip Salvi (57), had shot the wife, Pramila, as he suspected her fidelity, officials said.
Dilip allegedly fired a bullet at his wife at point blank range in a fit of rage, around 10.15pm. He used his licensed pistol, a Smith and Wesson .32 in the shooting, the police said. Soon thereafter, Dilip too dropped dead at the same spot due to brain haemorrhage.

Dilip, a developer, was the brother of Ganesh Salvi, the former deputy mayor of Thane Municipal Corporation. He lived at Yashwant Niwas in Kumbharali locality. The couple is survived by a son and and an elder daughter who is married.
Their neighbours who heard the bullet shot rushed to their home and found the couple lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the living room.
The report of a post-mortem examination conducted on Deepak and Pramila at Kalwa Hospital has revealed that Dilip,who had a medical history of high blood pressure and chronic diabetes, died of brain haemorrhage, a senior officer told TOI.
The autopsy done on Pramila revealed that she died due to injury caused by the bullet that went through her neck-jawline area, said the police officer.
Deputy commissioner of police Ganesh Gawade and other police personnel rushed to the scene after being informed of the shooting by neighbours.
Subsequently, on a complaint that was lodged by the couple’s son, the police registered a case of murder against Dilip. In his police complaint, their son alleged that his parents had a longstanding feud and said that they quarrelled frequently.
The criminal offence that has been registered states that Dilip used to doubt the character of his wife and that they had had similar type of heated arguments and tiffs in the past .
One of their neighbours, who spoke strictly on the condition of anonymity, said that Dilip was a person who, by far seemed to be of a silent nature and residents of the neighbourhood usually found him smiling. “It is therefore hard to digest that he took such an extreme step,” the neighbour said.
