Although the 19-year-old accused driver has been booked by the local police, immediate arrest was not made, and the teen driver has been summoned to appear in court at a later date.

Devang Gandhi, the father of the teen, shared details of the incident, stating that the accident occurred around 10.45pm on October 1 when his son was crossing the road near the Belgian Waffles shop in the inner Vashi lane.
The accused driver was speeding and collided with Arham, causing multiple fractures, including in the temporal region of the forehead. Despite Arham’s friends noting down the car’s number plate, the driver did not offer assistance to the injured boy.
Devang Gandhi said that Arham has suffered internal head injuries, but he is currently conscious and able to communicate. However, doctors have cautioned that any further fluid leakage into the brain could pose a serious concern. The family intends to oppose the bail application of the accused driver, as he should not have been driving at such high speeds in the narrow inner lane of Vashi.
A police officer said that a notice under section 41 of the CrPC has been issued to the 19-year-old accused driver to appear before the court. He also noted that the accused’s blood test for alcohol was found to be normal.
However, Devang Gandhi raised concerns about the timing of the accused driver’s blood test, as it was conducted several hours after the accident, and he criticized the police for not disclosing the name of the accused to the family.
The FIR against the 19-year-old driver was filed under sections related to rash and negligent driving, as well as causing grievous hurt, including IPC sections 279, 337, 338, and section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
In addition to pursuing legal action, Gandhi has requested access to CCTV footage from the time of the accident to gather more details about the incident.
