CIA is working on a ChatGPT-like tech for its agents
The security agency is likely to use publicly available data to train its AI model that will help its agents and spies to find credible information.
ChatGPT is everywhere and soon the spies will have their own version of the AI chatbot thanks to the Central Intelligence Agency or CIA. The security agency in the US is reportedly working on a ChatGPT-like AI tech to help the spies and their agents with better information and intelligence on different matters.
The report from Bloomberg claims the CIA will be using publicly available data to train the AI model to help the agents with credible information and also verify it for them. CIA is using its Open-Source Enterprise division to develop this AI tool which is likely to be a chatbot and offer answers to any queries from the CIA staff.
The agency believes that an AI chatbot will be the fastest possible tool to disseminate and help the agents on the field and more.
Having said that, the CIA has not shared a possible timeline for its availability to the CIA staff except for suggesting that it is coming in the near future. In addition to the CIA, the AI tool will be accessible to a few other intelligence agencies like the National Security Agency (NSA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and some agencies run by the military.
It is interesting to see a large security agency like the CIA adopting new technology to advance and evolve with changing times. It’s not like these agencies don’t have enough data and access to information already but bringing AI into the equation is likely to simplify the method which is used to filter through millions of files both digital and physical.
But while AI has its benefits, there are serious concerns about its use and the data sourced through these applications. This is where the CIA has remained silent on what AI model it will develop the chatbot and how it plans to ensure that the data accrued through the AI are not available in the public domain.
