Shiv Sena MLA Vishwanath Bhoir warns KDMC of protest in Thane | Thane News – Times of India

KALYAN: Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MLA Vishwanath Bhoir from Kalyan West assembly seat on Tuesday expressed displeasure in strong words after a woman gave birth at the gate of Rukminibai Hospital in Kalyan in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
MLA Bhoir has warned that if strict action is not taken against the staffers or the doctor of the hospital who denied admitting the woman patient, he would step aside as MLA and as an Shiv Sena activist would stage protest against the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) in a Shiv Sena style.
On Saturday, some locals as well as police constable Vikas Thackeray had alleged that the hospital staffers and the doctor had refused to admit the woman saying they had “staff crunch”.
They alleged the woman was crying in pain and her baby had already started crowning. They sought help from the hospital staffers, but they refused after which the woman had given birth at the gate itself. However, the allegations were denied by the hospital staffers.
A probe is under way.
The MLA said the incident of Rukminibai Hospital is a disgrace to the medical field of Kalyan and such an incident should not have happened.
Bhoir said, “Even though KDMC has shifted the maternity ward to Vasant Valley, there is a need to make some arrangements at Rukminibai Hospital for emergencies.”
Bhoir gave warning that if the KDMC commissioner did not take immediate action in this matter, he would step aside as an MLA and as Shiv Sainik would hold a big protest.
He asked, “We are elected by the people and we are bound to them. If people do not get facilities or their rights, what is the need for such administration?”
Bhoir said while many senior officials from the government joined duty at KDMC, in reality few of them work in the field.
On Tuesday, BJP’s Kalyan city president Varun Patil said soon a delegation led by Union minister of panchayati raj Kapil Patil would meet the KDMC commissioner and give a 15 days’ ultimatum for improvement of healthcare facilities or else the BJP would hold protest against the KDMC administration.
