Premier League: Manchester United secure comeback win over Nottingham Forest, Fulham hold Arsenal

Bruno Fernandes was the star of the show for Manchester United as they overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 on Saturday, August 26. Meanwhile, 10-man Fulham were able to hold Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates as well.

Manchester United’s match at Old Trafford was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The hosts found themselves in a precarious position, conceding two goals within the first five minutes of the game. Taiwo Awoiniyi had give Forest the lead following a counter-attack after a United corner in the second minute before Wily Boly made it 2-0 for the visitors in the fourth minute.

United pulled one back through Christian Eriksen in the 17th minute. The second half saw both teams have chances early on but it was the hosts who equalized in the 52nd minute through Casemiro after a well-worked free-kick.

Joe Worrall then saw red after bringing Fernandes down while he was clear on goal. Marcus Rashford then earned a penalty in the 74th minute which the United captain converted to seal all three points for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s encounter with Fulham was equally dramatic. The Gunners conceded an early goal with Andreas Pereira scoring in the very first minute. But the Gunners managed to take the lead in the second half after goals from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah. However, their hopes of a win were dashed when Fulham scored an equalizer from Joao Palhinha in the 87th minute, resulting in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium. Despite Fulham being reduced to 10 men, Arsenal couldn’t capitalize on the advantage, continuing a trend of giving away sloppy goals at home.

In other matches, Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton, while Brentford and Crystal Palace ended in a 1-1 draw. West Ham secured a 3-1 victory over Brighton, ending the latter’s perfect start to the season.

Tottenham remained unbeaten under Ange Postecoglou, winning 2-0 against Bournemouth.
