Mumbai Murder News: Auto driver arrested in Mumbai for killing 17-year-old, chopping his body into four pieces | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A 33-year-old auto driver was arrested by RCF police in Chembur on Wednesday for allegedly killing a 17-year-old, whom his wife considered her brother, and chopping his body into four pieces. He allegedly killed the boy for passing objectionable comments on his wife and her younger sister and touching the latter inappropriately.
The accused, Shafeeque alias Shafi Shaikh, was planning to dispose of the parts, which were recovered from his kitchen, when he was arrested.
“The deceased was ‘mooh bola bhai’ of Shaikh’s wife. Shaikh killed him on August 28,” DCP Hemraj Singh Rajput said. “After killing Ishwar Marwadi with a sickle, Shaikh kept hitting his head with a hammer. We have seized the sickle and the hammer,” an officer said. Shaikh will be produced before a court for remand on Thursday.
Accused’s father-in-law called victim his son, tipped off cops after he went missing
Auto driver Shafeeque alias Shafi Shaikh has been arrested by RCF police for killing Ishwar Marwadi, a minor whom his wife considered her brother, on Monday. Marwadi’s body was recovered on Wednesday morning.
Shaikh previously lived in Uran and now with his wife in the RCF area. He was earlier arrested in 2013 in Uran for allegedly murdering one Jay Narayan Koli and also faced a robbery case. He was jailed for several years in the case, and shifted to Govandi after his release. He told the police he was acquitted in the 2013 murder.
Marwadi was detained by Chembur police in 2020 in connection with a house break-in and sent to Dongri Children’s Home. He had started consuming drugs, police said.
A police source said one Lalit Putran, who has horses and takes people for rides outside a Chembur garden as his business, had brought Marwadi home around 10 years ago after his parents passed away. In 2011, Putran married a woman who has four daughters and a son. The family lived in a Mhada building in the RCF area. Marwadi would help Putran take the horses to the garden. He would eat at Putran’s home and sleep in a nearby stable.
Senior inspector Murlidhar Karpe said the police control room received a call from Putran around 4.30am on Wednesday. He told the police that his son-in-law, Shaikh, had hidden Marwadi, whom he addressed as his son.
“At that time, Shaikh was taking his wife and 14-month-old daughter to his mother’s home in Govandi,” said Karpe. Putran said Shaikh took Marwadi with him on Monday and there was no trace of him since. When Putran confronted Shaikh on Tuesday night, Shaikh allegedly said he would speak to him in the morning.
When police questioned him, Shaikh said he had killed Marwadi. “A police team reached his two-room flat in the SRA building. The body parts were kept in different bags. They have been sent to JJ Hospital,” a cop said.
Shaikh told the police he married Putran’s daughter in 2019 after he fell in love with her. He would do the night shift as an auto driver because of which his wife mostly slept at her mother’s place. The couple also usually ate at Putran’s house. Shaikh told police Marwadi would inappropriately touch his sister in-law, tease her and pass comments about his wife and her. Shaikh had beaten up Marwadi a year ago and even warned him. He alleged since the minor did not stop passing comments, he brought him to his flat on Monday and questioned him. Marwadi allegedly answered back. Shaikh then killed him. He was booked for murder and destruction of evidence and will be produced in court on Thursday.
