Mumbai Crime News: Sanjay Raut’s associate, BMC staff got Rs 2cr for khichdi contracts says Mumbai Police | Mumbai News – Times of India
MUMBAI: BMC officials and some private persons booked in the ‘khichdi for migrant labourers’ scam received over Rs 2 crore collectively, states the police complaint. The accused in the case not only illegally bagged a contract for preparing khichdi for migrant labourers, they further sub-contracted it to another agency in violation of the contract. Besides, the agreement required the contractor to ready packets weighing 300gm each, but the accused handed over food parcels weighing between 100gm and 200gms, revealed a police inquiry. The accused cheated the BMC of Rs 6.37 crore. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on September 1, booked Sunil alias Bala Kadam, Raju Salunkhe, Sujit Patkar, an associate of Sanjay Raut, M/s Forceone Multiservices’ partners and employees, Snehal Caterer’s partners, an unnamed ex-assistant municipal commissioner (planning) of BMC, other concerned BMC employees and private persons for cheating, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy under the IPC. The probe team is now collecting bank account details of all the accused persons after which it will summon each accused for recording their statements. The FIR states that on April 9, 2020, a meeting was conducted at BMC’s Byculla office for discussion on the community kitchen. It was decided that those who could prepare 5,000 or more food packets will be given orders. One of the conditions was that the contractor should have a kitchen and health department certificate. The accused, however, flouted all norms. The authority to issue work orders was given to assistant municipal commissioner (planning). The FIR further states that Patkar got Rs 45 lakh as consultancy service fees for helping a contractor get the work order. Patkar was recently arrested by the EOW in the Covid jumbo center case. He is currently in judicial custody.
