Mumbai: Congress state working president Naseem Khan welcomes Lalu, Tejasvi, Akhilesh to INDIA meet | Mumbai News – Times of India



MUMBAI: Working President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee and former minister Arif Naseem Khan, while welcoming RJD founder Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejasvi Yadav and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to INDIA alliance meet in Mumbai, has asked them to think about the welfare of migrants from Bihar and UP living in Mumbai.
Khan who welcomed these leaders at the Mumbai airport and also spoke to them said these leaders have shown keen interest in the welfare of migrants from their states living in Mumbai and Maharashtra and are also excited to be part of INDIA alliance currently meeting in Mumbai.
“I told Laluji and Tejasvi to appoint a nodal officer in Mumbai to address issues faced by the Bihari migrants here. They are very keen to provide help to migrants from Bihar. They are also very excited that their party is part of INDIA, the alliance created by opposition parties to defeat Narendra Modi-NDA in 2024 general elections,” said Khan, a senior leader of the Congress in Maharashtra.
Khan who also met SP’s chief and former CM of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav said that Yadav was very hopefully of the INDIA alliance achieving its goals. “I welcomed him to Mumbai and the meeting of the INDIA alliance. I told him that his joining the alliance is a good sign and it will strengthen the unity of the opposition and the INDIA alliance,” said Khan.
Naseem Khan was minister of minority affairs in the previous Congress-NCP minister in the state . He was the minister when the Congress-NCP government had announced 5 % reservation to Muslims in jobs and education. Later, when this quota was challenged in the Bombay High Court, the Court allowed 5% reservation in education. But the BJP-Sena government has ignored the demand of Congress-NCP leaders to give 5% quota to Muslims.
