Kolkata Knight Riders batter Ajinkya Rahane added another feather to his cap on Friday as he became the seventh Indian to score 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League during IPL 2022 match against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Rahane joined an exclusive list of cricketers to have achieved the feat before him. Rahane needed 8before the start of KKR’s match against PBKS to get to the milestone. Rahane now has over 4000 runs in 154 IPL matches. He has 2 hundreds and 28 fifties in the tournament.
Rahane got there with two classy flicks that symbolizes the touch player that he is. Rahane had an opportunity to get to the landmark an innings earlier but he got out early in KKR’s game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday.

Ajinkya Rahane, who lost India’s Test vice-captaincy earlier this year, started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians before moving to Rajasthan Royals (5 season), Delhi Capitals and now he plays for KKR. Rahane opened the batting for the Kolkata franchise against CSK and scored a fluent 44 off 34 balls. He was the top scorer for the team as they defeated defending champions Chennai by six wickets. KKR will next take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday.
Rahane played only a couple of games for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the previous IPL season before being released. The 33-year-old was purchased by the Kolkata franchise for ?1 crore at the mega auction last month. Rahane has been going through a tough phase recently as he was also dropped from the Indian Test side for the home series against Sri Lanka.
