James Anderson reveals India 2024 tour ambitions: I want to go, but it’s not my decision

By India Today Sports Desk: England fast bowler James Anderson has expressed his desire to tour India in 2024 despite a disappointing Ashes series against Australia at home. Anderson believes that touring India would provide him with an opportunity to make a strong comeback and make a significant contribution to the team’s success.

Anderson had a relatively underwhelming performance in the four Ashes Tests of 2023, managing to take only five wickets. However, he has an impressive track record in India, where he has taken 34 wickets from 13 Tests, with an average of 29.32.

Writing for his Telegraph column, Anderson shared, “For me, I just want to take a couple of months off now.” He plans to continue training to stay fit but chooses to put a pause on non-stop bowling, a routine he had been following for the past few weeks. As a seasoned player, Anderson understands the importance of rest to regain his form and is planning to assess his performance and physical condition in the upcoming months.

Further, he added, “In the chats I have had with England, I have said I have not contributed the way I wanted to in this series on the field but I feel like I have a lot to offer the team going to somewhere like India in the new year.” Anderson seems excited about the prospect of testing his skills in India’s challenging playing conditions.

However, the final call remains with the selectors. Eager to showcase his potential, Anderson plans to get back to bowling in October. He commented, “It’s been a bit off this summer. Then look forward to next year.”

For now, he does not consider playing county games in September, allowing him more time to focus on fitness and training. Anderson’s fans eagerly await his return and are keen to see the magic he weaves in the India tour, proving once again why he is regarded as one of the greats in English cricket. His impressive career record goes before him, and expectations are high for the 2024 tour. They hope for a series marked by remarkable performances, contributing significantly to England’s success in the challenging subcontinent.
