India take on defending champions England in their first of two warm-up matches of World Cup 2023 at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday, September 29 with a chance to test themselves against pre-tournament favourites. Neither of the two teams would want to go full tilt in the warm-up match, which has no international status. Both teams can use all 15 members of their squads on Friday.
India are heading into the warm-up games after having won a 3-match series against Australia 2-1. However, they would look to test themselves by chasing as they failed in a 350-plus chase against Australia in the series finale in Rajkot on Wednesday.
Notably, Bangladesh chased down 263 against Sri Lanka in just 42 overs in Guwahati in the first set of warm-up match on Friday.

India are likely to not play the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah as they would want to keep their x-factors under the wraps against England before the tournament proper.
However, they would want to give their batters some game time in the middle. India have a healthy headache to deal with in the middle-order as Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul are competing for 2 spots while Suryakumar Yadav has also put himself in the mix after impressing against Australia.
Ishan Kishan will get game time in the middle after missing the final ODI against Australia due to illness.
On teh ther hand, India would want R Ashwin to have a go at England, considering the number of left-handers England have in the likes of Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, and Moeen Ali. Ashwin was added as replacement to injured Axar Patel in the eleventh-hour — on Thursday.
For England, it will be about getting used to the conditions and giving the likes of Stokes, Liam Livingtstone Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow game time in the middle.
It will be interesting to see how India batters face up against the hig-quality England bowling line-up, which has the likes of Mark Wood, Reece Topley, Chris Woakes and spinners Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali.
