Cricket World Cup 2023 tickets to go on sale from August 25, semi-final and final tickets available from Sept 15

The International Cricket Council on Wednesday, August 9 announced the sale of the tickets for Cricket World Cup 2023. The global cricket body confirmed that ticket sales will start on August 25.

The ICC officially announced the start of the ticket sales after the rescheduling of the fixtures were confirmed. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had confirmed earlier that 3 to 4 full members had written to the ICC requesting a modification to the schedule. The date of the marquee clash between India and Pakistan was also changed from October 15 to October 14 due to logistical issues in Ahmedabad on the sidelines of Hindu festival, Navratri.

To manage the demand for tickets, the ICC has announced phase-wise sale of tickets. The World Cup will be played from October 5 to November 19 across 10 venues in India.

  1. 25 August – Non-India warm-up matches and all non-India event matches
  2. 30 August – India matches at Guwahati and Trivandrum
  3. 31 August – India matches at Chennai, Delhi and Pune
  4. 1 September – India matches at Dharamsala, Lucknow and Mumbai
  5. 2 September – India matches at Bengaluru and Kolkata
  6. 3 September – India matches at Ahmedabad
  7. 15 September – Semi Finals and Final

The delay in the announcement of ticket sales has led to confusion and traveling fans are fretting the logistical issues that they might face during the World Cup. Bharat Army, one of the biggest fan groups of the Indian cricket team, founder Rakesh Patel, speaking to Follow-us, explained the trouble that the traveling fans might go through due to the delay in ticket sales for the World Cup.

Also, ticket holders need to procure physical tickets and show them at entry gates at stadia across the country during the 2023 World Cup. Jay Shah confirmed after a meeting with the state associations on July 28.

The board secretary explained that it’s not possible to have e-tickets for the World Cup but the BCCI is hopeful of having a system in place for bilaterals first and then take it forward.

“We can’t use e-tickets this time around but will ensure to have physical tickets redemption at 7-8 centers well in advance. But physical ticket needs to be retained,” Jay Shah, who also shed light on the potential rescheduling of a few matches, told reporters.
