The Browser Company has announced a new update for its Arc web browser. Via an online event, the company has announced several new features and changes coming to the browser with the next update, especially AI-based features under the new Arc Max moniker.
What’s new coming to Arc browser
First and foremost, the company is finally leveraging OpenAI’s GPT3.5 and Anthropic’s models to offer several AI-based features within the browser. Based on AI, the company has announced chat features, ability to rename tabs and downloaded files automatically, access command bar and new 5-second quick summary feature.
But there’s a twist. At the livestreaming the company’s CEO Josh Miller mentioned that these five new features are not permanent. These features will be there for at least 90 days and the company will then gather feedback and based on that the feature will be made permanent.
Let’s take a look at all the features the company has announced
Ability to rename pinned tabs: This feature automatically renames the tabs to make it look more neat and clean and also to make it easier for users to find tabs by giving it a relevant name.
5-second preview: This feature comes in handy while browsing. For instance, you searched for a local store. Now, to get the number and address, all users have to do is hover over it for 5 seconds. The AI will automatically fetch necessary information from the page and that too without opening the website.
Rename downloads: Just like tabs, the browser can now also rename downloaded files based on the content in them.
New chat feature: The search feature now also doubles up as the chat feature. This now lets users ask any question from a website or document and it will summarise it or find the right context from it.
Accessing these new AI-based features
First update the Arc browser and then press Cmd + T to open the command bar. Type Arc Max and then choose to enable the features as per choice.
