Pokémon Go Is Now Playable In Hindi, New In-Game Events Announced – News18


The Pokemon Company and Niantic have announced that India is becoming a big priority for the gaming giant.

Pokémon game will feature the names of over 800 Pokémon in Hindi, making it more relatable to the Indian population.

Niantic and The Pokémon Company have announced that Pokémon Go is now available in Hindi, and in celebration of Hindi Divas in India, the game now features the names of over 800 Pokémon in Hindi, making it more relatable to the Indian population.

Users can now search the Pokédex page to access the new Hindi names, and soon, gamers will be able to find information and details about all Pokémon in Hindi as well.

Omar Tellez, VP for Emerging Markets, Niantic said, “The Hindi version of Pokémon GO will promote inclusivity, encourage engagement, and enable more players to embark on their Pokémon GO adventures.” 

He added, “Since the launch of the game in 2016, we have added over five lakh Pokéstops across India and the company also has been organising several on-ground activations,  We are certain that this step by us with The Pokémon Company will further help us in widening our audience base in the country.” 

To further celebrate Hindi localization, Niantic is also hosting a month-long event for Indian players. The company has noted that the in-game events will include Field Research, Timed Research, and Bonuses with special rewards. In addition, they will be launching a new film, “The Journey of One Dream,” in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali. The story revolves around a father and his son, and pays emphasis to the importance of family bonds.

“India is one of our key markets. We believe the localization into Hindi marks the starting point of a long journey to come,” notes Takato Utsunomiya, Chief Operating Officer, The Pokémon Company. He also said that that The Pokémon Company would establish itself further in India, and wants their long-term vision to “enrich the Pokémon world hand-in-hand with the Pokémon fan community.”
