NAVI MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man residing in Wahal village, Ulwe node, has been booked by NRI Coastal police for allegedly morphing images of his own wife, 15-year-old niece and his own son’s Rakhee sister and storing them in his mobile phone gallery.
The accused had also threatened his wife to make the images viral if she lodged a police complaint.
The accused has been booked under section 500, 506(2) of the IPC along with Section 67a of IT Act, 2008 after a complaint was lodged on Wednesday by a journalist, who is the elder brother of accused’s wife.
“The accused has not been arrested but served with a notice under code of criminal procedure for cooperating in the police probe, as per the provisions of the law, as the sections of IPC and IT Act invoked against him attracts a punishment of less than seven years. The accused has allegedly committed the crime due to property dispute between the him and his wife and her brother, the complainant,” said Sanjay Chavan, police inspector (crime) of NRI Coastal police station.
As per the FIR, on July 4, the complainant’s 16-year-old nephew (sister’s son) received on his WhatsApp the morphed images of his own mother and also of a woman colleague at his mother’s office. He also received morphed images of a girl whom he considered as his sister, in compromising position with a man. Hence, he forwarded it to his maternal uncle, who spoke to his sister regarding the serious issue and asked if she wanted to lodge a police complaint. When she told that she was threatened of making the images viral on social media if she approaches police, he ignored the incident.
However, on August 30 at 3.43am, the complainant’s nephew called on his mobile and told that while he was using his father’s mobile, he found morphed images of his (complainant’s) 15-year-old daughter in his photo gallery. Hence, he told his nephew to forward the images on his WhatsApp. After he sent the images to the complainant, he found his daughter’s morphed nude images with another man. The complainant told about the issue to his wife and sister and then registered a FIR against his brother-in-law at NRI Coastal police station on Wednesday.
