International Dog Day: 10 ways to celebrate International Dog Day 2023 with your pup | – Times of India

International Dog Day is going to be celebrated on 26th August, 2023, and it’s time to show your furry friend how much you appreciate their companionship. Here’s a guide on how to make the most of this day.

1. Morning walk

Start the day with an early morning adventure. Take your pup to a nearby park or a nature trail for a refreshing walk. Let them explore new scents, sights, and sounds. Bring some treats and a frisbee or ball they love for a game of fetch. Dogs love some physical activity and it is the perfect bonding time for them.

2. Pamper please

Give your pup a spa-like experience. Give them a nice massage with little coconut oil on your fingertips. Not the coat, apply it on their skin. Then, give them a gentle bath using dog-friendly shampoos. Afterward, indulge them with a thorough brushing to keep their coat healthy and shiny. Don’t forget to trim their nails and clean their ears if needed. You could always book a spa for your dog if you do not wish to do it at home.

3. Homemade treats

Spoil your pup with some homemade treats. Bake dog-friendly cookies or prepare frozen treats using ingredients like peanut butter, yogurt, and banana. This not only gives them a delightful snack but also makes them feel loved.

5. Photo session

Make sure you capture the beautiful moments with your pup in a photo session. Use props like hats, scarves, or even some silly glasses to add a fun twist. Share the adorable photos on social media to spread the joy of International Dog Day. However, do keep in mind that your dog should not be uncomfortable or feel tortured when you dress them up because not all dogs like it.

6. Playdate with friends

Organise a playdate with other dog owner friends and their pets. This is nothing but social interaction that lets your pup engage with others of their kind, enhancing their social skills and providing a great opportunity for fun and frolic.

7. Training time

Spend some quality time with your pup and that includes a training session. Teach them a new trick or command, and reward their successful attempts with treats and praise. This not only builds a stronger bond between you but also keeps their minds active.

8. Relaxation zone

Create a cozy relaxation zone for your pup. Set up a comfortable bed with their favourite blankets and toys. Play some soothing music or white noise to help them relax and unwind.

9. Outdoor picnic

Prepare a picnic lunch for both you and your pup. Pack dog-friendly food like cooked chicken or carrots, along with some human snacks. Find a shaded spot outdoors where you both can enjoy a meal together.

10. Health check

Use the occasion to schedule a health checkup for your pup. Regular veterinary visits are essential for their well-being. This ensures they are up-to-date on vaccinations and any potential health concerns are addressed promptly.
